Painting the ‘G red and blue
The Northern side of the MCG has always been the traditional home of Melbourne supporters, and for the Queen’s Birthday it was not just tens of thousands of fan
Over 100 metres of parapet signage adorned the middle and top tiers of the stand, inspired by the signage that used to decorate the boundary lines before sponsors became entrenched in stadiums.
Along the top tier of the Olympic Stand were two messages inspired by Cheer Squad banners of the 1950s and 1960s.
The second tier recognised the Demons’ 12 premierships, with some room left vacant for number 13.
As the home club of the MCG, the Club is dedicated to creating a home ground atmosphere for players and fans alike and the signage will be on display at all home games for the rest of the season.
