Watts happening with Jack
By Sam Edmund
JACK Watts says his growth as a player has caused teammates to look at him in a different light. Watts has endured near-constant criticism since Melbourne took him with pick No.1 in the 2008 national draft, despite juggling school commitments in his debut year and playing well short of his physical peak. But the 20-year-old has started to answer his critics in recent weeks and shone in Sunday's thumping of Fremantle, collecting 24 disposals, six marks and kicking three goals. "It comes down to confidence and the way I feel around the group, and I think the way the boys are looking at me now is probably a bit different," Watts said. "They've got a lot more confidence in me just to create a contest and that's going to be something I have to keep working on - being strong in the air."I'm working hard at it and hopefully you're seeing the improvements."
