BERNIE Vince says it’s hard to say if 2015 has been his best AFL season to date.
Vince, who won the 2009 Adelaide best and fairest award, said it was difficult to compare this season with his finest year at the Crows.
“I know [former teammate and senior assistant coach] Goody (Simon Goodwin) said it was a better season [this year than 2009], but I don’t know,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“It’s really hard to compare, because I played finals the year I won it with Adelaide and we finished fifth and missed out by a kick on a preliminary final.
“We won a final and played in a couple of finals, so you’d take that year over this season, because you play in finals. But in terms of [my] performance, it’s a really hard one to gauge.”
Vince, who is one of Melbourne’s leading contenders for this year’s best and fairest award, the Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy, also played down his All-Australian prospects.
“What will be, will be in the end. There are plenty of midfielders that I’d have in the All-Australian team before me, so I think that’s a bit far-fetched,” he said.
“I don’t really think about those things to be honest. Whatever happens, happens and whatever doesn’t, doesn’t.
“I just love playing footy every week, and as long as I can keep doing that every week and trying to help the team win, then whatever comes along with that, I’ll take that.”
