Dawes’ manager Ben Niall told afl.com.au’s Gillette AFL Trade Radio on Friday that Dawes had named the Demons as his preferred destination.

General manager of list management Tim Harrington said: “We can confirm that Chris Dawes has indicated his desire to be traded to the Melbourne Football Club.”

“We will now be working to facilitate a trade with the Collingwood Football Club.”

Although Dawes is still contracted to the Pies, he has flagged his intentions to move to the Demons. And it must be stipulated that an official trade has yet to be made.

The 193cm tall has played 71 matches for the Magpies from 2008-12.
