MELBOURNE has included seven players in its 25-man squad for Sunday’s twilight clash against Carlton at the MCG, but has left out trio Aaron Davey, Colin Sylvia and Cale Morton.

And the Demons could unveil a debutant with defender Troy Davis named in the initial line-up.

Joel Macdonald, Rohan Bail, James Sellar, Lynden Dunn, Luke Tapscott and Daniel Nicholson have also been included in the squad.

Bail, Sellar and Dunn have been confirmed in the starting 18, while Macdonald, Tapscott, Davis and Nicholson are on the extended bench, along with Jamie Bennell, Jordie McKenzie and James Magner.

As expected, Liam Jurrah will miss the next four to six matches with an ankle injury suffered against Sydney Swans at the SCG last Saturday.

It continues a frustrating season for Davey, Sylvia and Morton, after their pre-seasons were interrupted with injury.

Although Davey has played every match this season - except round two when he was an emergency against West Coast Eagles at Patersons Stadium - he was limited in his preparation.

Sylvia missed the opening four matches of the year with a back injury and one through a club suspension.

The forward/midfielder sustained a back injury in the final NAB Cup clash against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium, which halted his start to 2012.

He returned in round five and played the past four games, although he was a substitute in his first match back.

Morton had a knee injury after Melbourne’s intra-club clash this season, but returned played six matches from rounds three to eight.

For Davis, who was selected at No.50 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, his provisional selection is a reward for some impressive form at Casey.

Hailing from Kerang/Geelong Grammar/Geelong U18s, Davis, 20, is a 192cm tall who has the ability to play on smalls and talls.

Bail, who has played seven matches this season, returns after being an emergency last round.

Sellar and Dunn have featured in five games this year. Sellar is back in the side after missing two matches with a calf injury. Dunn comes back after an impressive performance for Casey against Box Hill two weekends ago.

Macdonald and Tapscott have both played four matches in 2012 and are in the mix to build on that tally.
