CO-CAPTAIN Jack Trengove says the Demons can use Sunday’s win over Greater Western Sydney at the MCG as a springboard for the rest of the season.

Trengove said he knew his team was capable of producing a term of football like it did in the last quarter, when it booted 12.2 to 2.2.

“It’s the way we’ve trained throughout the whole pre-season – up until this date. We always knew internally we were capable of it – I’m not sure if anyone else did. The important thing was that we knew and that was just shown a bit out there in that last quarter,” he said.

“You’ve got to take confidence out of that to show that we’ve come from being down. People might say that GWS are a young and inexperienced side, but they really took it to us.

“At the end of the day, we have to go out there and do it, and we were able to do it today and that’s something that we’re going to take into in the following weeks.”

Trengove said the Demons were pleased to convert what they had practiced all summer into a game.

“It’s just a matter of us going out there consistently, and you definitely take that confidence that we were behind and run out a game like we did, going forward,” he said.

“Nothing changes at training, though – we keep doing what we’ve been doing, because we really believe that’s what’s going to hold us in good stead in the future and make this club go forward.

“So in that regard, nothing changes, but you take confidence out of that.”
