DEFENDER Dean Terlich says Melbourne’s constant turnovers against Collingwood at the MCG on Monday proved to be at the forefront for its 90-point loss.
Terlich said he was “frustrated after the loss” as he felt his side showed some positive signs in the hefty defeat.
“I think we showed glimpses again,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“The first quarter was really good and we didn’t maintain it.
“Our youth and their games experience went against us. The turnovers in the middle of the ground proved costly. They got at least 10 goals from our turnovers, so it made it very tough, especially as a defender.
“We showed some signs that we’re improving, so hopefully one day soon it comes together.”
With Melbourne having the bye this round, the first-year Demon said the break was coming at an opportune time.
“For me personally, yes,” he said.
“I love footy and want to keep on playing all of the time, but once you have a pre-season and then go into the NAB Cup and then the start of the season – you’re body needs a break and mentally you need to freshen up as well.
“I’ll go back home and get out on the farm and get out among the open spaces, so it’ll be good to get out of Melbourne for the weekend.
“I’ll go up to Henty for a couple of days and watch my brothers play footy, do a bit of farm work and get out in the fresh air, so it’ll be good for me.”
