THE VICTORIAN Women’s Football League (VWFL), who the club is a major sponsor of, will hold the Premier Division Grand Finals on Saturday 10 August at City Oval in Coburg.
In what is sure to be an entertaining match, Darebin will take on Diamond Creek in a grand final rematch in the seniors at 2.30 pm and the Eastern Devils will take on Melbourne University at 12 pm in the reserves.
Although Diamond Creek took out the top prize last year, Darebin Falcons are tipped as favourites.
Both sides are comprised of many players who were drafted to play in the Melbourne vs. Western Bulldogs match, including number one draft pick for the Melbourne women’s side, Daisy Pearce, who will captain Darebin.
Other players to watch include:
Stephanie Chiocci, number 2 pick for Western Bulldogs (Diamond Creek)
Aasta O’Connor, captain of Western Bulldogs and number 4 pick (Darebin)
Karen Paxman, pick no 6 for Western Bulldogs (Darebin)
Mark Jamar will be supporting women’s football by attending the grand final and will present the reserve grand final medals.
From Victoria to Western Australia, Chelsea Randall, pick number 3 for Melbourne, was awarded the Western Australia Women’s Football League Best and Fairest award.
The Club wishes all female footballers the best of luck for their finals campaign.
