MORE than 400 people have attended this year’s annual Foundation Heroes dinner, tipping in a further $450,000 to the $6 million already raised since Jim Stynes first led the drive.
Held for the first time at Peninsula in Docklands, the theme of the evening was ‘Casino Royale’, inspired by the James Bond film.
Although Daniel Craig was not in attendance, the heroes of the night were again the Melbourne supporters.
Ever since the first event was held in Kensington in 2008, the Foundation Heroes have donated generously.
Foundation Heroes is believed to be the most successful fundraising group in the history of AFL clubs.
Special presentations were made by chief executive Peter Jackson, general manager of player personnel and strategy Todd Viney and interim president Peter Spargo.
A range of fundraising activities were also conducted on the evening and one lucky Foundation Hero won an Opel car.
