COACH Neil Craig has implored his players to finish their disappointing season on a high, and has encouraged as many Melbourne supporters to come out and support the team in its final match of the season.

The Demons will play the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Sunday at 4.40 pm, and Craig said it was important his team finished the year on a positive note.

“Our final game at Etihad Stadium, we’re looking for the same start that we had at AAMI Stadium in Adelaide,” he said on The Craig Report on Dee TV.

“[It’s] really important that we play the season out, right to the end. I know the players are keen to do that, so we look forward to as many supporters coming to Etihad as possibly can.”

Craig said he was pleased with his side’s opening term against Adelaide, before it “lost the plot” in the second quarter. He added that his team produced some “reasonable play” in the third term, before a frustrating final quarter.

“It was a good start to the last, but then petered out really badly,” he said.

“There was some really good play, particularly in the first quarter – we really enjoyed that.”

In summing up a disappointing season, Craig thanked the Melbourne supporters for their support towards the players and coaches.
