Quarter 4:
With the game all but over entering the final term, it was a matter of how far the Saints or if the Demons could peg the margin back. In the wash up, Melbourne managed to out score St Kilda in the final term, with three goals to one. Shannon Byrnes, Jack Fitzpatrick and Jeremy Howe were the goalkickers. Although the red and blue managed to reel in the deficit, it still went down by 35 points.

St Kilda: 16.8.104 v Melbourne: 10.9.69

Quarter 3:
The third quarter started in frustrating fashion. Both teams made plenty of skill errors, but Jack Watts provided a good target up forward adding his second for the match. Nick Riewoldt, in his 250th match, booted two early goals, and by three quarter time the margin was out to 49 points. Jeremy Howe was Melbourne’s only other goalkicker for the term.

St Kilda: 15.6.96 v Melbourne: 7.5.47

Quarter 2:
The Dees were under siege again in the early part of the second quarter with Sean Dempster kicking the first goal. But Melbourne showed some good signs, using the ball much better and locking it in its half of the ground.  St Kilda responded with some good movement through the middle of the ground, with Nick Rewioldt and Rhys Stanley kicking goals. Skill errors hurt the Dees when going forward, but key forward Chris Dawes kicked his first goal of the game after receiving a free kick in a marking contest.

St Kilda: 10.3.63 v Melbourne: 5.4.34

Quarter 1:
St Kilda jumped out of the blocks with three quick goals via Farren Ray, Clinton Jones and Justin Koschitzke. The Demons steadied the flow with a major to Dean Kent and soon started to find the footy. Youngster Sam Blease showed his pace with a nice goal on the run. With the majority of play in St Kilda’s half, the Dees found it difficult to score in the first term. Colin Garland was the leading possession winner with 11 touches, David Rodan had three tackles for the quarter

St Kilda: 7.2.44 v Melbourne: 3.0.18
