YOUNG gun Jesse Hogan says he will be right for the start of Melbourne’s 2014 pre-season campaign, despite injuring his knee late in the season.
Hogan suffered the setback playing for Casey against Bendigo Gold in its 129 point victory at Casey Fields on August 17.
Although Hogan, who kicked 39 goals for the Scorpions in 2013, was disappointed to be sidelined from Casey’s finals campaign, he was adamant he would be right for the start of November.
“It’s going all right. It’s nothing serious,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“I’ll focus on my rehab over the next few weeks and then go from there.
“I just want to get my knee right, then do my best in the pre-season and then give myself the best opportunity to play in round one.”
Hogan has yet to start running, after he was given six weeks off from the time he injured it, but he said the knee was progressing strongly.
“I’ve just had to keep off it, do rehab, keep going week by week and keep having physio,” he said.
“I pretty much can’t even feel it anymore, and I’m not really aware of it.
“I’m completely unaware of it when I’m walking around now, so that’s great and it’s getting there.”
