- Melbourne has now lost its past 11 matches against Hawthorn. Its most recent victory came against the Hawks in round eight, 2006. Lynden Dunn and Mark Jamar are the only remaining 2014-listed Demons to have played in that match.
- Melbourne went down to Hawthorn by 50 points – the same average losing margin from their past 11 games. The Demons have also lost their past four matches to the Hawks by 50 points or more.
- The Demons have now lost their past seven matches, after winning four of their opening 12 games for the season
- Hawthorn had 30 scoring shots to Melbourne’s 20. The Hawks booted 17.13 to 9.11.
