MELBOURNE’S first pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft – Christian Petracca –says “a dream turned into a reality” when he was selected at No.2 on Thursdaynight.
The outstanding midfielder/forward said he was “over the moon” to joinclose mate Angus Brayshaw, who was also claimed by the Demons, at No.3.
“I’m lost for words – it’s unbelievable,” Petracca told Dee TV.

“It was all speculation. The media pumps up … No.1 – [it was] either me,Paddy or Angus, but I feel like I’m so happy to fall through to Melbourne,” hesaid.
“Where ever I went I would be so grateful, but to go with Melbourne, whohas such a rich heritage and a young developing team, I’m just so grateful andthankful.”
Petracca said it was all a “bit of a blur” when national recruitingmanager Jason Taylor called his name out.
“It all happened so quickly – I am just so happy,” he said.
“I’ve got my girlfriend, my family, my two brothers, everyone [at thedraft] – it’s a big Italian family, so we are all proud. They have helped mealong the way.”
