GOALKICKING ace Jeff Garlett says he can’t wait to start a new chapter in his AFL career with Melbourne, after 107 matches and 183 goals with Carlton from 2009-14.
Garlett said after speaking to close friend Neville Jetta and Melbourne great Aaron Davey, he felt the red and blue was the best place to continue his career.
“It’s pretty good and something I’m looking forward to – starting a new chapter in life and a new beginning. To have a fresh start at a new club that’s got a good history – I’m really looking forward to it,” he told Dee TV.
Garlett, who averaged 22 matches and 40 goals per season from 2010-13, said he was determined to produce that type of form with Melbourne in 2015.
“I was in a good space, playing some good footy and I had good people around me and good energy and playing that consistent footy, where I want to get back to and where I can play my best,” he said.
“I reckon I can do that here at the Melbourne Football Club – get back to my best and have a fresh start.
“I was lucky enough to have Eddie [Betts] by my side and I was lucky enough to learn from him and to try and play my own brand of footy.
“I had those good years and I didn’t have the year I wanted to have last year, but that happens to a few boys, but I’m really looking forward to a fresh start and playing my best footy.”
