FRESH off a win over the Blues, Melbourne may look to enter Round 3 with a similar looking side to last weekend.

But, if the Dees do decide to fine-tune some areas on the field, who could be in line for a re-call?

Sam Weideman

Sam Weideman is yet to play a senior game in 2020 after the Dees opted to trial Mitch Brown and Luke Jackson up forward in the opening two rounds.

But after kicking five goals in the hit-out at Ikon Park, Weideman will be putting up his hand once again this weekend.

The key forward has played 31 AFL games and could be ready to take the next step this season.

Kysaiah Pickett

Dees fans were disappointed to hear Kysaiah Pickett couldn’t take the field against Carlton after being suspended for breaching the AFL’s COVID-19 guidelines, but he will be available for selection come Thursday night.

Despite playing just one match of footy, the 18-year-old is just about a walk up start, offering a genuine spark inside 50 for his side.

Pickett had 19 touches in Saturday morning’s game and should be in line for a Round 3 return.

Aaron vandenBerg

It’s a matter of fitness for Aaron vandenBerg.

The 28-year-old got through the practice match unscathed after breaking his foot in the Marsh Series and would be a valuable addition to the Melbourne midfield.

Similarly to Harley Bennell, vandenBerg has had a luckless run with injury, so it will be interesting to see if there’s room for both Demons in the same outfit.

Mitch Hannan

Mitch Hannan is another who just hasn’t been able to get out on the park consistently in recent years.

His craft as a forward is undoubted, and the left-footer may be a tempting option for the coaches following a strong outing against the Blues.

Jay Lockhart

The isolation period came at a bad time for Jay Lockhart, who was an unlucky omission from the side that faced West Coast in the season opener.

He has developed into a reliable small defender who is effective on the attack, so when a spot opens up, expect him to take it with both hands.
