MELBOURNE has raised just on $600,000 at this year’s Foundation Heroes event, held at The Park, Albert Park on Wednesday night.
The club now has more than 500 Foundation Heroes members and is still determined to reach 1000 – a figure that was the vision of the late, great Jim Stynes, who was instrumental in overseeing the first Foundation Heroes event in 2008.
President Glen Bartlett and leadership group member Chris Dawes spoke at the event.
Dawes announced to the 350-plus people in attendance that the players had contributed more than $10,000.
A premiership panel, featuring chief executive Peter Jackson, senior coach Paul Roos, manager of football operations Josh Mahoney and strategy and midfield coach George Stone also spoke at the event.
The Foundation Heroes members were also treated to some inner sanctum videos, exclusive to the event.
