MELBOURNE ruckman Braydon Preuss will be sidelined for the early part of the 2020 season after suffering a knee injury at training on Monday.
The injury occurred during a routine training drill, with the 24-year-old going down towards the end of the session.
General Manager of Football Operations, Josh Mahoney, said the setback is disappointing for Preuss, who had put together a solid pre-season campaign.
“Unfortunately during training yesterday, Braydon landed awkwardly on his right knee, with scans revealing that he has sustained a medial meniscus tear,” Mahoney told Melbourne Media.
“Braydon underwent surgery to his right knee on Tuesday afternoon. We felt this was the best course of action to prevent any further issues moving forward.
“At this stage we expect Braydon to be unavailable for eight to 10 weeks.”
