ON THURSDAY 10 April, the Melbourne Football Club hosted students from Hallam Secondary School who were treated to a behind the scenes insight in to the club.
Students were members of the Hallam Senior School Sports Academy which recognises the importance of providing students with a fulfilling and challenging education that also allows them to further develop and enhance their opportunities to pursue a career in sport.
Their experience included an all access tour of AAMI Park followed by watching a training session and then hearing from Melbourne player Bree White.
Of the 20 students who attended, the majority play school football but are also members of local youth football teams. This week five students were selected in the Under 18 Victorian Metro Squad. Two of the students have also nominated to be selected in the AFL Draft which will take place on May 19.
The tour with some of the state’s best youth, female footballers was one just one the many initiatives the Melbourne Football Club runs to support women in football.
