A PERFECT 10-vote performance from Max Gawn in Round 23 has seen him finish 13th on the leaderboard for the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.
Gawn’s effort against the in-form Todd Goldstein was recognised by both coaches, as he dominated in the ruck with 41 hit-outs, and impacted around the ground with 26 disposals, eight marks and three goals.
The 27-year-old has been a standout for his side in a difficult season, polling a total of 70 votes and also earning a selection in the All Australian squad on Monday.
In the Demons’ clash with North Melbourne last weekend, Clayton Oliver was also among the votes, receiving five for his 33-disposal effort, while Jack Viney and James Harmes picked up one vote each.
Shaun Higgins (eight votes) and Jared Polec (five votes) were the two Kangas to poll in their five-point win at Blundstone Arena.
On Tuesday evening, Western Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli was announced the winner of the award, receiving 107 votes throughout 2019.
