First quarter: Western Bulldogs 8.3 (51) to Melbourne 0.2 (2)

Melbourne couldn’t have asked for a worst start.

The Dogs smashed the Demons in the first term, booting eight goals to nil, which included three majors to Bulldog Jarrad Grant.

The Dees managed just two behinds via James Harmes and Jack Watts.

Second quarter: Western Bulldogs 14.5 (89) to Melbourne 2.4 (16) 

The Bulldogs continued to dominate the Demons early in the second term, booting another four in a row to lead by 74 points.

Melbourne finally opened its account at the 15-minute mark when Jeff Garlett converted from a set-shot in the pocket, ending a remarkable 12-goal streak by the Dogs. 

Jesse Hogan made it two in a row for the Demons, but when Marcus Bontempelli landed his second and Tory Dickson booted his second after the half-time siren, the Dogs led by 73 points.

Third quarter: Western Bulldogs 14.7 (91) to Melbourne7.7 (49)

After amiserable first half by the Demons, they showed plenty of character in thethird term, booting five goals to nil.

Garlett andHogan added their second each, while Max Gawn, Chris Dawes and Jack Watts alsokicked their first. 

Melbourne wonthe quarter by 31 points and managed to reduce the deficit back to 42 points atthree quarter-time.
