Out-of-favour midfielder Rohan Bewick couldn't have done much more to win a recall than his 31-disposal, three-goal effort in the Lions' seven-point win.

He was one of several Lions who feasted on the ball, with Mitch Golby (28 possessions, two goals) and omitted midfielder Zac O'Brien (30, one goal) also having days out.

Fellow axed Lion Trent West booted two goals from his nine disposals.

Forward Liam Jones slotted two majors and collected 18 touches to put his hand up for a final round recall for Carlton as the Northern Blues' tough season came to an end in an 81-point belting.

Blaine Johnson, Fraser Russell and Dylan Viojo-Rainbow kicked a goal each in the losing cause.

Running defender Adam Oxley pressed his case for a round 23 recall as the Magpies prevailed by eight points over Port Melbourne at a wet Victoria Park.

Key backman Jack Frost responded well after being dropped to be among the best, along with ruckman Jarrod Witts and Ben Kennedy.

Patrick Karnezis registered an equal game-high two goals.

Athletic first-year player Kyle Langford collected a team-high 24 disposals through the midfield, with eight marks, six clearances and a goal as the Bombers secured a 17-point victory.

"When (Langford) gets the ball he's got a great awareness of what's around him and he always makes really good decisions," Bombers coach Mark Corrigan told the club's website.

Jason Ashby also found plenty of the football, defender Ariel Steinberg held Liam McBean to two goals and Kyle Hardingham slotted three majors.

Rookie Jacob Ballard took the honours for the Fremantle-listed players, collecting 29 disposals and five inside 50s in the 39-point win.

Youngster Brady Grey (24 touches, 10 inside 50s) and ruckman Jack Hannath (16 touches, 34 hit-outs, one goal) were also among the Dockers' best.

Omitted forward Hayden Crozier was held goalless and had 18 disposals

George Horlin-Smith slotted four goals as the Cats romped to an 81-point win on their home deck in their final game for the season.

Geelong had 14 individual goalkickers, including Shane Kersten (three), while Josh Cowan and veteran Mathew Stokes both impressed.

On-baller Jacob Townsend continued his strong second half of the year after coming back from a foot injury and was the Giant's best with 17 touches in a 33-point defeat.

Hard-running Jake Barrett and tough nut Jack Steele were both outstanding with 33 touches and a goal apiece.

Casey only booted five goals, but small forward Jay Kennedy-Harris kicked two of them in a heavy loss to Sandringham.

Dean Terlich, Rohan Bail and Mitchell White picked up plenty of possessions in an otherwise disappointing day for the Scorpions.

North Melbourne will be sweating on Daniel Wells' fitness after the star onballer limped off with a calf injury in a 29-point win over Coburg.

Wells had eight disposals in the first quarter, but his day was done before three-quarter time and he had ice strapped to the back of his left leg at the final change.

The electric midfielder has been edging closer to a senior return after being sidelined for the Roos since round two due to an Achilles injury.

Midfielder Trent Dumont (24 touches, nine clearances) and defender Joel Tippett (23 touches) were among the Roos' better-performed players.

The game marked the end of North's partnership with North Ballarat as the club prepares to enter a full alignment with Werribee from next season.

It was also coach Gerard FitzGerald's final match in charge of the Roosters.

Matt Dea racked up 31 touches and took nine marks, but his efforts weren't enough for the Tigers to overcome Essendon on Saturday. 

Matt Arnot ran amok with 30 touches while, after announcing his retirement this week, Chris Knights had 29 and kicked a goal. Matt McDonough (27, two goals) was dangerous and big forward Liam McBean slotted two majors.

Ahmed Saad kicked back-to-back hauls of four goals, while Arryn Sipposs had 24 touches and booted a goal in a thumping 51-point win.

Josh Saunders bounced back from his AFL axing by also racking up 24 possessions.

Key defensive prospect Aliir Aliir helped guide the Swans to a 20-point win as Ben McGlynn made an encouraging return from a hamstring injury.

Midfielder Scott Selwood, who becomes a restricted free agent at season's end,made a promising return from an ankle injury with 21 disposals and six tackles in his side's four-point defeat. 

Onballer Kane Lucas had 21 touches and four marks as he continues his push to play his first AFL game for the Eagles, while forward Tom Lamb kicked a goal from his 10 possessions.
