MIDFIELD coach Ben Mathews says the club is right behind coach Paul Roos and says it’s “business as usual” as Melbourne prepares for Sunday’s clash against Fremantle at Domain Stadium.
Speaking after Roos’ comments on AFL 360 on Monday, Mathews said Roos was an outstanding leader for the club and had put all of his energies into this round’s encounter.
“It’s a bit of a storm in a tea cup to be honest,” he said.
“Roosy goes about his business consistently and as do us as coaches. We support him and we’re supportive of everyone – our players and all of our staff. We’re all in it together, so there is not one person sitting on a rock all on their own.
“We get around Roosy and we get around all staff members and all of our players at the right time.
“But at the same time, we’ve all got a job to do and that is to perform, and we were disappointing in that area against Carlton. We’re really looking for a response.”
