TWO OF MELBOURNE’S most important and best players – co-captain Jack Grimes and key forward Mitch Clark – are set to miss the next six to eight weeks with their respective injuries.

Football manager Josh Mahoney confirmed the duo would be out for up to two months after the club released its injury list on Monday night.

“Jack had surgery today (Monday) on his collarbone and he had a plate inserted. The expectation at this stage is that it’ll be six to eight weeks of recovery for Jack, before he can return back to playing,” he said.

“Mitch had his operation last week to remove the screw in his foot. The operation went extremely well and Mitch is reporting that his foot is feeling good at this stage.

“We expect Mitch will miss somewhere between six and eight weeks, and after he recovers from the surgery he’ll gradually build up his training over that time.”

Ruckman Mark Jamar (groin) and versatile tall Jack Watts (hamstring), who both missed last round’s loss against Carlton, will miss a further one to two weeks.

“Both Jack and Mark missed last week’s game and they’ll both train later in the week,” Mahoney said.

“The expectation is that they’ll miss this week’s game [against the Gold Coast Suns at the MCG] and then be available to play the following week.”

Rookie Nathan Stark will be sidelined for two matches with a groin injury.
