Check out some of the numbers that came to the fore in round 15

Round 15: Melbourne 19.8 (122) d Essendon 14.19 (103), MCG

5 - Goals were kicked by Brad Green. It was an equal career-best, matching his haul against St Kilda in round 22, 2002.

11 - Contested possessions were had by two players: Green and Mark Jamar. Sylvia was next best with 10. Two Bombers also had 10: Jobe Watson and Ben Howlett.

12 - Wins have now been achieved by Dean Bailey since taking over as coach in 2008. Nine wins have come against non-Victorian clubs and three victories have occurred against Melbourne-based clubs: Richmond (twice) and now Essendon.

29 - Disposals were won by Colin Sylvia. His team-best was a fine effort, considering it was his first match since round 11. Sylvia missed two matches with a toe injury and played for Casey last round, before coming back in this round. He also chipped in with two goals and had seven inside 50s.

32 - Points Melbourne led by at half-time. The Demons kicked 10.6 to 4.10 by the main break, with Brad Green kicking three majors. Melbourne’s first quarter (6.2) was also its best opening term since round four.

33 - Scores were registered by Essendon. Melbourne had fewer with 27 and still won by 19 points. The Dons booted 19 behinds.

36 - Goals have now been kicked by Green this season. He needs just one more goal to equal his season best - 37 goals achieved in his second AFL season (2001). Green also booted 35 goals in 2003.

51 - Points Melbourne led by at the 14-minute mark of the final term, after ruckman Jamar kicked his second goal for the match. It was also Melbourne’s eighth goal from nine majors kicked from the 12-minute mark of the third quarter.

161 - Champion Data player ranking points were racked up by Green for his best-on-ground display.

2006 - Was the last time Melbourne defeated Essendon, until now. The Demons beat the Dons in round 12, 2006 and have only met once each year since then, including this year.
