JACK Trengove says the round six ‘Pink Lady Match’ at the MCG will be a great opportunity to recognise all women involved in the game.
On Tuesday, the AFL and Breast Cancer Netword Australia announced that Melbourne and the Sydney Swans will play in the Pink Lady Match at the MCG on Saturday, May 9.
The Pink Lady Match is an opportunity for all footy fans to celebrate their mums on Mother’s Day weekend, while raising much needed funds and awareness for BCNA – a national organisation, which works to ensure Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care.
“Whether you’re a Melbourne supporter, Sydney supporter or a supporter of any club in the AFL, it’s just a great opportunity to come out and fly the flag for such a great foundation in BCNA,” Trengove told Dee TV.
Speaking after the breakfast launch of the Pink Lady Match, Trengove said it was a “moving morning” and a great opportunity to recognise the work women do in football.
“None of the players would be in the positions that they are if it wasn’t for key women in their life – whether it’s their mother, partner, sisters or daughters.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to recognise the work they do [by] wearing your mum’s name on your shoulder [of the jumper] and represent them.
“It’s such a great foundation – BCNA – and we recognise the importance and significance that women hold in Aussie Rules football.”
