AARON vandenBerg says Melbourne is ready for a contested brand of football against the Sydney Swans at the SCG on Sunday.
The hard-at-it forward/midfielder said his team was eager to play its style against one of the best teams in the business.
“The Swans are a very good team and they’re going to be very hard at home and they’ll be bouncing back from a loss to the Giants,” vandenBerg told Melbourne TV.
“We’ll attack it like we do every week and they’re going to sustain a pretty good game plan for 120 minutes.
“It’s going to be a hard fought contested game and it always is against the Swans and that should play well into our hands.”
Reflecting on last Monday’s Queen’s Birthday win over Collingwood at the MCG, vandenBerg said it was a “very good” win by the red and blue.
“We had an idea of how we wanted to play heading into the game and we really put it to them,” he said.
“Throughout the game, we knew that they were going to sustain a hot-paced game early on and we fought back in the second quarter and put some points on the board.
“We played the way we wanted to play for 120 minutes, which was a good lesson after playing Hawthorn, because it showed what the good teams do.”
