MELBOURNE footballers Daisy Pearce and Ashleigh Guest visited Malvern Central School in support of Fight Cancer Foundation’s (FCF) Footy Colours Day on Wednesday 3 August.

Footy Colours Day is a national campaign for FCF which raises money to support children and young people with cancer, so that they may continue their education while having treatment.

This year was the third year Malvern Central School has participated in Footy Colours Day.

Starting with a simple gold coin donation the first year they participated, the school went on to raise $8,365.10 last year through the introduction of a raffle with signed club merchandise as prizes.

It is now one of the school’s most favoured activities and as a sign of appreciation and support, FCF this year assisted with their Footy Colours Day event to help make it bigger and better.

Pearce and Guest conducted a talk with female students interested in playing AFL followed by a question and answer session.

Other activities on the day included an AFL Footy Roadshow and football clinic and colouring in and banner competitions.

The Melbourne Football Club supports FCF through player ambassadors, fundraising activities and assists and promotes the organisation’s Footy Colours Day.
