CAPTAIN Nathan Jones says it was frustrating falling to Hawthorn by 18 points at the MCG on Saturday, even though there were plenty of positives from the match.
Speaking post-match to Melbourne TV, Jones said there had been “positives in most of our losses this season”, even if there was also disappointment.
“Whether that’s been individuals or from a team point of view, [there have been positives], but in the end, we’re here to get the four points and win games of footy,” he said.
“The players are pretty disappointed and hopefully that spurs us on for the second half of the season.
“We’ve got a big game [against Collingwood] in nine days’ time and a bit of a break to refresh and get ready for that. If we bring what we’ve brought most games this year, again we’re in with a shot.”
Jones said Hawthorn remained one of the teams to beat in the competition.
“In the end, Hawthorn is a class outfit,” he said.
“You’ve got to be 100 per cent on every facet of the game to be able to compete with them and get the result.
“We’ll review that and take some positives from it, but we’re looking to win, so our next challenge is Collingwood and we’ll prepare as best we can.”
