WHILE the majority of the Melbourne playing group hit the track on Monday morning for Day 1 of pre-season, Adam Tomlinson and Charlie Spargo weren’t in action.
The Demon pair have been sidelined by injury, but are both hoping to return to training shortly.
Tomlinson, who was recruited to the club as a Free Agent during the off-season, injured his calf while completing a running session on his break.
“Adam unfortunately strained his calf last week while away from the club,” General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.
“He was completing a running session when he felt some tightness, with scans revealing a calf strain. He will be running next week.”
Although the 26-year-old couldn’t join in with the main group at Gosch’s Paddock, he was still in attendance despite being entitled to a longer break following his Grand Final appearance for the Giants.
Spargo, who has played 26 games across his first two seasons in the red and blue, was also watching on from afar after injuring his ankle.
“Charlie landed awkwardly and rolled his ankle while participating in a skills session last Friday,” Mahoney said.
“Charlie has been wearing a moon boot and crutches as a precaution. We expect him back running next week before progressing back into the main group prior to Christmas.”
