MELBOURNE hard nut Angus Brayshaw was confined to stationary drills and sported strapping on his right calf at Gosch's Paddock on Monday.
While he kicked with his left leg, he did not use his right. However, a club spokesperson said Brayshaw had a sore calf but would join the main group on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old was hampered by injury last season and lined up in 10 games for the senior team.
A medial strain in his left knee suffered in the opening minute of the Demons' first pre-season game last year meant Brayshaw endured an interrupted preparation, and he was also concussed twice in three weeks later in the season.
However, Brayshaw has rebounded to be among the stronger performers during Melbourne's pre-season.
Demons player/coach performance manager Brendan McCartney told melbournefc.com.au: "He's really primed to play some great footy for the club this year. He is showing regular glimpses of intensity, hardness and pure football brilliance."
Meanwhile, midfielder Dom Tyson was on light duties after partially dislocating the patella tendon in his knee while on a pre-Christmas training camp. The 23-year-old returned to the track last week and has been confined to running.
Tyson should be fit for the JLT Community Series and looked unhindered. He ran laps and did run-throughs at a moderate effort, and was free of any strapping to his knees.
The onballer was joined by Dean Kent, who had a similar workload.
Small defender Neville Jetta joined Brayshaw in handball work early on in the session and later moved on to run-throughs.
