MELBOURNE coach Simon Goodwin provides an update on all 44 players in the lead-up to the 2018 season. Be sure to check back each day for much of January, as we present this year’s squad …
Oskar Baker
Oskar came to the footy club after being drafted from Aspley. He arrived with the nickname ‘Ginger Ninja’. Oskar has demonstrated some elite fundamentals, from a kicking perspective within our program. He’s continuing to build and understand the AFL environment and he’s settled in really well, after making the move from Queensland.
Harley Balic
Harley arrived at the club in the off-season from Fremantle. After settling in, he’s been outstanding at training. He won one of our training ‘player of the week’ awards, which is a credit to him and his development in the time that he’s been involved in our program. We’re really looking forward to seeing him play in 2018.
Angus Brayshaw
Angus has had an uninterrupted pre-season, after a challenging 2017 season kept him to five matches. Now entering his fourth AFL season, he’s travelling along really well and doing all of the training. He’s starting to emerge within the group, in terms of his training standards. We’re looking forward to that continuing throughout January and February.
Tomas Bugg
Tom has been working closely with the forwards. He’s showing some of the form that he had during the middle of 2017 – when he played every game from rounds six to 15 – in his training, which is encouraging. After playing 65 matches for GWS, Tom has added 28 AFL games since he arrived at the end of the 2015 season. He will be looking to build on that in 2018.
