ANUBHAV Passi is among the new wave of Melbourne supporters.

Passi moved to Melbourne from New Delhi, India in August 2016 and has since become a passionate Demon.

So how did he arrive in Australia and become a lover of the red and blue?

“I was about to end up in the US … and my friend decided to come over here instead of going to the US,” he told Melbourne Media.

“[Demon Army member] Ryan [Sinclair] invited me to a barbeque that he has every pre-season and I went over there and everyone was so welcoming and the vibes was so amazing.

“He then said ‘do you want to come to the first game against the Cats?’ So, that’s how I went into the Demon Army over here.”

Passi said it was “amazing” to experience his first game and it didn’t take him long to learn the rules of the game.

“The best thing I love about the Melbourne Football Club is that it’s one of the oldest football clubs. This game was invented by the Melbourne Football Club and the fans are amazing,” he said.

“One of the reasons [I started supporting the club] was because Ryan introduced me to the club, and as soon as I started watching the game, I got to know these players.

“Once I get obsessed with a club or a game, I’m like that. I’m like that crazy ex-girlfriend – [try and] stop her. I just keep on looking into the club.”

Passi, who is eagerly awaiting this Sunday’s clash against St Kilda at the MCG, said ‘The Welcome Game’ this round was a great opportunity for all who love the game and who want to be part of it to come together.

And although he is a “massive” soccer fan and watches gridiron “a lot”, he is truly converted to the red and blue, calling himself an Indian Max Gawn, because of his beard.

And like any Melbourne fan, he’s got his favourites.

“One of the best players is Neville Jetta, who I admire,” he said.

“He’s so tough on the field – all of the time.”
