DESPITE having impressed on the track since he was selected at No.31 in last November’s NAB AFL Draft, Bayley Fritsch says he simply wants to get better every day, rather than look too far at what might be around the corner.

On the back of an outstanding season with Casey Demons, where he won the 2017 Fothergill-Round Medal for the best young player in the VFL, and a promising start at Melbourne this summer, the 21-year-old could genuinely come into round one consideration.

But Fritsch is taking it all in his stride and determined to focus on his development first and foremost.

“I’m feeling pretty good, just taking it session-by-session at the moment. I’m just trying to get as much feedback from the coaches as I can to better my game, and better the team in the long run, and trying to play my role the best I can,” he told melbournefc.com.au.

“It would be nice to have a crack at a pre-season game, but [I’m] probably just trying to take it day-by-day and if that opportunity arises then I’ll take it with both hands.

“If not, I’ll just keep putting my head down, and try to get the best out of myself each day I come into the club.”

The 186cm tall forward, who booted 42 goals in the VFL last year, said it was a dream come true to join Melbourne, after gaining an insight into the club, when he was previously a Casey-listed player.

“I couldn’t be happier that I’ve ended up at Melbourne,” he said.

“Everyone’s been so welcoming and it’s definitely made it easier coming into an AFL environment.

“All the boys, to be honest, since I’ve been here, have made it so easy to come into an AFL environment.”
