BRAD Green says boom recruit and new teammate Mitch Clark has settled quickly into the Demons.
Speaking at Casey Recreation and Aquatic Centre on Wednesday, where Melbourne had a swim carnival, Green said the former Lion had adapted quickly to life in the red and blue.
“Clarky’s been great. He’s fitted into the side really well,” he said.
“He hasn’t been out training because he had a bit of a knee op towards the end of the season.
“But from what I hear, he’ll be back fully into it on Monday, which is great.”
The recent Australian captain and 2010 best-and-fairest winner said Clark will make a significant difference to the team’s structure.
“I think it’s crucial [to have a key forward],” he said.
“You look at all the premiership teams, they’ve got at least one or two key forwards who are playing and being dominant in their side and in their team.
“No doubt, Mitch is going to be that focal point that we need for our side to progress and get better.”
Although Green was rested from swimming duties, he said the carnival was a good way to mix up what has been a rigorous pre-season so far.
“This is our lighter week. We’ve had a fairly tough three weeks of training,” he said.
“So we’ve come out to Casey to do a swimming carnival.
“I don’t mind swimming, but it’s something not a lot of Tasmanians can do.”
