AN OVERWHELMING sense of frustration was the theme from coach Mark Neeld when he spoke about his side’s 83-point loss to Collingwood at the MCG on Monday.

Speaking in his post-match media conference, Neeld said his team’s inability “just to complete a possession of chains” was particularly frustrating.

Neeld added that he was also frustrated that the “young, new boys are leading the way”.

"When we see guys that have been around for a while keep handballing the ball back to [the opposition] … I'm a little bit frustrated right now," he said.

But Neeld praised recruiter Todd Viney for his efforts to secure some talented players in last year’s NAB AFL Draft, such as Dean Terlich, Matt Jones and Jimmy Toumpas.

“The guys leading the way are Dean Terlich, Matt Jones, [Jimmy] Toumpas and they've been here for five minutes,” he said.

“The positive … there is the glint in the future.”

With Melbourne having the bye next week, Neeld said he would possibly bring in some younger players for the second half of the season.

“Do we bring in another few kids from Casey and give them some games in the second half of the year and what do we do with a couple of the older guys in the team?” he said.

“If we want to get more games into Jones and Terlich … Jack Watts, Toumpas … [we’ve got to] get them out there on the MCG and give them games.”
