RUCKMAN Max Gawn continues to lead the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.

Gawn received the maximum 10 votes in Melbourne's 50-point win over the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Saturday.

The 2016 All-Australian has been in brilliant form this year and is now a genuine chance for this year's Brownlow Medal.

Clayton Oliver, who won Melbourne's 2017 best and fairest, continued his outstanding 2018 season with seven votes against the Dogs. Oliver is among the AFLCA leaderboard.

Angus Brayshaw (six votes) and Jesse Hogan (three) were the other Melbourne players to catch the coaches' eye.

Brayshaw claimed 38 disposals - on shy of his career-best - and Hogan booted four majors.
