MELBOURNE will play Carlton and North Melbourne in the upcoming AFLX format, to be held at Etihad Stadium on Friday 16 February.
Featuring in Pool ‘A’ of the night, Melbourne will take on Carlton at 6.40pm AEDT, before meeting North Melbourne at 8.32pm AEDT.
Hawthorn, Essendon and St Kilda will also compete in the round-robin tournament, making up Pool ‘B’.
The winner of each pool will then meet in the Grand Final, to determine the overall winner of the event.
AFLX is the League’s new form of the game, showcasing the most exciting elements of Australian Football.
The fast-paced matches will provide a new type of entertainment, while the inaugural tournament promises to have just as much happening off the field.
The event will feature fireworks, music, in-game commentary, performers, giveaways and family zones.
Tickets are now available to purchase through the AFL website here, with children under the age of 12 free.
AFLX will be played over three consecutive nights, starting on Thursday, February 15 in Adelaide, followed by matches in Melbourne on Friday and in Sydney on Saturday night.
