MELBOURNE hit the track for its final main training session of the week on Thursday, before heading up to Brisbane to face the Lions in Round 15.

While the group is feeling good after their 14-point win against Fremantle, James Harmes says regardless of the results, the boys continue to work on similar plans each week.

“You definitely feel confidence, but the coaches have been positive all year, so the messaging is still the same,” Harmes told Melbourne Media.

“We’re going into this week with the same mindset and hopefully we can get the win against Brisbane.”

The Demons had a restructure in the football department during the bye week, and while the changes weren’t too extreme, Harmes is noticing some improvements out at Gosch’s Paddock.

“I guess we’ve just got back to doing what’s good for us,” he said.

“The way we play our footy, we love the contested ball and going long down the line – that’s our game, so we’ve been training that a lot.

“Twig (Jade Rawlings) has come in and really started to drive our offence and hopefully the supporters will be able to see it on game day.”

While the Dees sit in 16th position on the ladder, there is still plenty to gain in 2019 and they’re looking to build some momentum against Brisbane on Sunday afternoon.

“Anything can happen in footy,” Harmes said.

“It’s the old cliché – take it week by week – but we literally have to do that at the moment.

“We’ll roll into this week with a bit more confidence and hopefully have a good win up at the Gabba.”

In positive news, Neville Jetta looks to be close to a return from his knee injury after completing a full rehab session, while Jake Lever ticked the boxes he had to on the track as he hopes to play in Round 16.

Michael Hibberd, who missed last week with a collarbone injury, trained with the main group and is a certain starter this weekend.
