TEGAN Cunningham has been cleared of striking Brisbane’s Shannon Campbell on Sunday and is free to play for the Demons this weekend.
Cunningham successfully challenged her striking charge at the AFLW tribunal and after a long hearing on Tuesday night, she has been given the all clear to pull on the red and blue guernsey in Round 4.
The 31-year-old was initially handed a two-match ban by the Match Review Officer following an incident with Brisbane’s Shannon Campbell on Sunday, but the tribunal voted in Cunningham’s favour to dismiss the suspension.
Cunningham was thrilled with the verdict and is looking forward to moving onto this week's game.
"I'm very, very relieved to have the charge dismissed," she told Melbourne Media.
"My actions were not intentional nor careless, and I appreciate that the jury shared the same view."
Cunningham will now line up in Melbourne’s crucial clash with the undefeated Kangaroos at Casey Fields this Sunday.
"I can't wait to get back out there with the girls on Sunday to face North Melbourne," she said.
