FORMER Melbourne trainer Kevin Beard has passed away after a long illness.
Beard was the club’s head trainer for many years, starting in the 1970s, through to the 2000s.
Named a life member in 2000, Beard was also president of the AFL Trainers Association.
He acted as a trainer for the Victorian State-of-Origin team.
Beard’s brother Terry was also a trainer at the club and is a life member.
Melbourne will wear black armbands in honour of Beard against Richmond at the MCG on Tuesday night.
A funeral service will be held for Beard on Monday, April 30, 2pm at Allison Monkhouse, Corner Springvale Rd and Princes Highway, Springvale.
