THE BRAYSHAW brothers have been rivals for many years, but in 2018, they took their backyard battles to the big stage of the AFL.

Melbourne’s Angus Brayshaw met Fremantle’s Andrew Brayshaw at TIO Stadium in Round 16 last season, but the jury is still out as to who took the honours.

“I’ve got some work to do against him,” the Demons midfielder said on the club’s Inside Melbourne podcast.

The clash between the pair caused headlines last year, on the back of a brutal tackle laid by Fremantle’s young gun.

“There’s a good debate around,” Angus said.

“I’m just going to come out and say openly, he got me.”

But despite that crunching blow, the 23-year-old is adamant he was still the winner of their contest that night.

“He won that little instance, but what you don’t see in that video, because it’s only a five-second clip, is that he’s been relegated to the half-back flank because (Max) Gawn, (Jack) Viney, (Angus) Bryashaw and (Clayton) Oliver had put a 50-point lead together in the first half,” Angus said.

“I think I win. We won by 50 points.”

Brayshaw racked up 31 disposals in that encounter last year and will be looking to have another big performance this weekend when he meets his brother again – this time on the MCG.

And after last year’s hit, he is keen to have another crack at the Docker.

“Hopefully he gets a go in the midfield, he’s been playing on the wing a bit recently and up forward,” Angus said.

The family reunion will kick off at 1:45pm this Saturday, as the Dees look to get a win under their belt in Round 14.
