Viney says there’s been no Dee-cision yet
By Rebekah Devlin

TODD Viney is yet to decide whether to put his hand up for the Melbourne coaching role, but he is definitely considering it. The caretaker coach was adamant when he took the job five weeks ago that it was just a temporary promotion, but the former Demons skipper admits he's warming to the task. "I've enjoyed the challenge," he said. "It's been exciting, I've enjoyed the responsibility of it. "The first week was certainly harrowing, the second week was better, the third better again, the fourth you've had a win and you start to become more comfortable with the environment -- but it has got better as time's gone on. "But I certainly haven't thrown my hat into the ring as has been reported."

Sylvia stays loyal to Demons
By Jon Ralph

MELBOURNE'S re-signing of star midfielder Colin Sylvia until 2013 was followed by welcome news captain Brad Green is deep in talks on a new deal.  Green was said to be disgruntled about his recent use as the club's substitute against Richmond, with the club admitting it should have told him about his controversial role earlier. But the Demons are confident Green will sign a new deal to stay at the club, with emerging ruckman Stefan Martin also expected to recommit to a new contract. Melbourne will not comment about Tom Scully's status, with the midfielder having said he will make a decision on his future immediately after the season. But it would take a staggering about-face for Scully to stay, with GWS coach Kevin Sheedy saying this week he expected several signings in the next fortnight. Caretaker coach Todd Viney said recently he "presumed" Green would re-sign to stay at the club after speculation of a move elsewhere. "The only murmurings have been through some sinister media work, that because he's played as a sub, that is the end of Brad Green. That is a load of rubbish," he said.

Scully future not set
By Caroline Wilson

TOM Scully's late withdrawal from the last home-and-away game of the 2011 season led to inevitable but premature conclusions. It is true that last Sunday's MCG clash against Gold Coast could prove to be his last game for Melbourne, but it is also true that he has not committed to Greater Western Sydney for what remains to the naked eye an obscene and potentially divisive pay packet for a still-emerging 20-year-old. Reportedly, the 2009 No. 1 priority draft pick has continued to battle more than general soreness for some time and because of knee and groin issues he was removed yesterday from the Demons' line-up. Caretaker coach Todd Viney has shown he is not averse to sending messages to this team, but withdrawing Scully because he has not committed to the club was not one of them. So to the future. Having chosen, on all available evidence from within the club along with the outside forces guiding his future, to believe that Scully has not reached a final decision, the romantic side of this column firmly believes he should stay.
