The Casey Demons are proud to announce that four of our own have been named in the inaugural 50-player rebel VFLW State Team squad, set to represent Victoria in a historic clash against the SANFLW State Team on Friday, April 11 at Alberton Oval during the AFL’s Gather Round.

Sophie Casey, Lauren Jatczak, Meg Macdonald and Olivia Morris have all earned selection in the squad, which recognises the top-performing VFLW-listed players across the competition. This will mark the first time a representative rebel VFLW side has taken the field since the league’s inception in 2017.

The Casey quartet have each impressed with their consistency, leadership and work ethic—both on and off the field—making them deserving additions to the ‘Big V’.

Head Coach of the State Team, North Melbourne premiership coach Brett Gourley, leads a highly experienced coaching panel, which includes Casey Demons’ very own assistant coach Dee Longwill—a proud moment not only for our playing group but for the club’s coaching and development program.

The final squad of 21 will be announced closer to the match, but the inclusion of four Casey players in the extended list is a testament to the strength of our program and the depth of talent within our VFLW side.

The rebel VFLW State Team match will kick off at 6:30 pm local time (7:00 pm AEST) at Alberton Oval in South Australia, with fans able to tune in and support what promises to be a fast-paced and exciting showcase of elite state-league football.

Congratulations to Sophie, Lauren, Meg, and Olivia on their selection—everyone at Casey is behind you!
