ONE the most praised talents in this year’s draft crop has landed at the Dees, South Fremantle star Molly O’Hehir selected with pick No.3.

The West Australian is a tall utility who has spent time across the midfield and backline, her aerial work, run and carry and competitiveness above the rest.

Standing at 179cm, O’Hehir started her football journey from as young as nine, playing for the Freo City Dockers before progressing through the junior football pathway, playing for South Fremantle Bulldogs in the WAFLW.

In 2024, she averaged 19 disposals and six tackles for the Bulldogs and displayed her desperate attack and will to win the ball, explosive speed and tenacity on show.

In addition to her on-field skills, O’Hehir has shown exceptional leadership, captaining the AFLW Academy in a game earlier this year.

Following the draft, Melbourne’s AFLW List Manager Todd Patterson spoke of his excitement to bring a talent like O’Hehir to the Dees.

“Molly's a player we targeted from the start of the year,” Patterson said.

“She's super competitive, an elite athlete and one of the most compelling personality profiles I've come across in my time doing it.

“So, we feel really fortunate to welcome Molly and her family to us coming from South Fremantle.”

Melbourne began the night with pick No.2, which it used to bid on Gold Coast Academy player Havana Harris. The Suns matched this bid and pushed the Dees to selection No.3.
