AFTER six years at the top level, Rhi Watt has called time on her AFLW career.

The much-loved Demon announced that this season would be her last on Saturday, hanging up the boots at the conclusion of Narrm’s 2024 campaign.

It brings a career of 37 games to a close, the 36-year-old representing three clubs across her remarkable journey.

With a background as a professional volleyballer, Watt was originally drafted to Carlton in 2019 and quickly adjusted to life as a ruck, playing two matches in the navy blue.

She made the move to St Kilda ahead of the 2020 season, where she was appointed a foundation co-captain and added a further 22 matches to her tally.

Narrm welcomed the talented tall at the beginning of season 7 in 2022, her wealth of leadership experience quickly making her an integral part of the club despite an ACL injury keeping her from game time.

She played a pivotal off-field role in her first six months, helping the Demons secure their maiden AFLW premiership.

In 2023, Watt was elevated to Narrm’s leadership group, a position that honoured her significant contribution to the team and broader program.

She made her debut for the red and blue in Round 7, in what was her first game in 595 days, and had immediate impact in her new colours.

Watt, a well-respected player across the competition, saved the best for last, playing all 11 games in 2024 and averaging 11.8 hitouts per match.

Jessie Mulholland, Narrm’s Head of Women’s Football, spoke warmly of Watt’s contribution to the team.

“Rhi is the ultimate teammate – selfless both on and off the field,” Mulholland said.

“We can’t thank her enough for what’s she’s brought to our program over the last three seasons.

“Her generosity, humour, talent, and tenacity have enriched our team, and she’ll be deeply missed.

“We wish Rhi and her wife, Bel, all the best in whatever comes next.”
