MELBOURNE has welcomed Harry Sharp to its AFL list, completing a trade with Brisbane on the penultimate day of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.
The Demons secured the speedster in exchange for pick No.49 in this year’s Telstra AFL Draft.
The two clubs also swapped future third-round selections in the deal; Melbourne parting ways with its pick from Essendon (obtained on Monday), receiving Brisbane’s 2025 selection in return.
Sharp arrives with 16 senior games to his name, having been drafted by the Lions in 2020 and making his debut the following season.
The 21-year-old, known for his running capacity, will add to the Dees’ depth in season 2025.
“We’re really excited to welcome Harry to the club,” Melbourne AFL List Manager Tim Lamb said.
“Harry is an elite runner, who plays on the wing and at half forward. We have been impressed by his development across the past couple of seasons, and look forward to seeing what he can produce in the red and blue.”
A national steeplechase champion as a junior, Sharp played 16 matches for Brisbane’s VFL side this past season, kicking 20 goals and averaging 19.3 disposals a game.
He also formed part of the Lions’ emergency list for the 2024 AFL Grand Final.
Sharp joins ruck Tom Campbell in recently becoming a Demon, with the AFL Trade Period to conclude at 7.30pm on Wednesday night.
