LAST TIME WE MET

Round 6, 2023 | Melbourne v Adelaide @Casey Fields
Melbourne’s quick start at its south-east home of Casey Fields wasn’t enough to hold off Adelaide last season, the Dees suffering their first loss of 2023 at the hands of the Crows.

These two sides met during Round 6 with Melbourne opening the game with a duo of early goals. However, it wasn’t long before the travelling side kicked into gear and booted six unanswered majors across the second and third terms pushing their lead out to 19 points at the final break.

Despite an inspired game from forward Eden Zanker, who kicked a career-high five goals, the Dees couldn’t take back the large margin and the final score was sealed at 8.8 (56) to 7.4 (46).

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Alyssa Bannan

After a short lull of games without goals, Bannan returned to her usual impact inside 50, kicking two goals in Melbourne’s win over GWS.

During the Thursday night game, the No.6 showed how integral she is for a win, her speed and exciting attack crucial for the Dees when entering the forward line. If Bannan brings the energy at Norwood Oval, her side will be well-placed for the four points on Wednesday night.

Ebony Marinoff

A very obvious choice in Adelaide’s players to watch, Marinoff has consistently been one of the top competitors across the league since the opening season in 2017.

Marinoff has been instrumental in the Crows midfield all season, continuing on from her work in years gone by, currently averaging the highest fantasy points with 148 per game. She not only racks up the disposals (averaging 29.7) week in, week out, but provides plenty of opportunity up forward with a league-high average of 6.5 inside 50s.
