DEMON legend Hassa Mann has paid a special visit to Casey Fields to inspire his beloved Demons ahead of the club’s celebration of the 60-year anniversary of the 1964 Premiership.

The now-83-year-old giant of the game has an extensive resume.

Mann played 178 games and kicked 193 goals while with the Dees, captained the club from 1965 to 1968, was All-Australian in 1966, and played in three winning premierships, 1959, 1960, 1964.

Hassa also played an integral part in getting Melbourne to the top spot in 1964 by kicking the winning goal in Round 17 against Hawthorn.

So when Mann spoke on how his experience at the Melbourne Football Club affected more than just his football career, the playing group was all ears.

“I think, looking around, the faces here bring back memories of when I first started as a country kid,” Mann said.

"You guys have got to appreciate that the Melbourne Footy Club, it’s been my life."

“Whatever I achieved in life, even away from football, I can put it down to the background of the Melbourne Footy Club.”

Mann ended his speech with a pep talk for Friday night’s game against Collingwood.

“The only way to be successful is to be a team of one,” Mann said.

“I see a lot of potential in this group, and if you are prepared to stick together, to work, and to help each other, there is no reason why you guys can’t write another chapter in the history of the Melbourne Football Club.

“Good luck for Friday night, win it for us, win it for yourself, and win it for the team and your supporters.”

Join us in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Melbourne Football Club’s 1964 Premiership at the clash against the Pies this Friday.
