For a player to be eligible for the squad of 40, they are required to play 50 per cent of the home-and-away season, equating to 12 matches.
This is the second consecutive year van Rooyen has been named in the extended line-up and the first feature for McVee and Windsor.
Van Rooyen will be looking for his first selection in the final team after an impressive season inside Melbourne’s forward 50.
The Demon has kicked 28 goals across his 18 games and has also been seen holding strong in the ruck working closely with Max Gawn.
McVee has been named in the squad after his second full season at the Dees. Working predominantly across half-back, the 21-year-old continues to be praised for his silky skills out of defence.
In addition to his qualities on the rebound, McVee has been noticed for his ability to play shut-down roles on some of the league’s best players.
Windsor’s selection comes after a breakout first season in the AFL, only arriving at the Dees nine months ago.
The 19-year-old has become an integral member of the club’s 23 each week, having not missed a game up until Round 20, following an injury.
Working closely with Ed Langdon as the team’s principal wingmen, Windsor speed and skill accuracy are most damaging outside the contest. The Demon has also managed to impact on the scoreboard, having kicked eight goals across the 20 matches.
The AFLPA 22Under22 team will be determined by fans, with a voting system deciding the final side.
Voting opens today from 2pm and will close at 11:59pm on Wednesday 14 August. The final team will be announced on Wednesday 21 August.
